STEAM at RECESS
At the last BOE meeting a presentation was given by Ms. Dunbar and some of her students regarding opportunities that the pre-high had to go to STEAM at recess time. Some of the students enjoy the satisfaction of a new and exciting STEAM project or creating a piece of art. STEAM, Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics means different things to each student. It is amazing to see the vast projects and talent that comes from this voluntary time in the STEAM lab.
At the BOE meeting I learned that Ms. Dunbar supplies all the STEAM materials herself. A lot of the items are recycled or repurposed. Of course there are always new items also. The PTO thinks it would be great a supportive if we could donate items that Ms. Dunbar could use in the STEAM lab. She is always looking for yarn, craft supplies, Legos and other products that could be repurposed and utilized in a new and exciting way through the imagination of the students.
If you have supplies that you would like to donate please feel free. If you have items that you would like to donate and are not sure if they are appropriate please contact Ms. Dunbar for guidance.
Box Top Program

Please continue to save the box tops. The school is continuing the program this year and the kids enjoy the rewards. It is not necessary to count or paste box tops to collection sheets. Just simply cut and collect, then periodically have your child bring to school. There is collection bin by the front door of the school. Please remember to label your submission with your child’s grade either on/in the bag. (No need to label individual box tops.) If you have more than one child, you can list all their grades and box tops will be divided. At the end of the school year, any class which has collected 500 or more box tops will win a class prize. Winning classes, along with their teacher, can choose a pajama day, an extra recess, a class game or movie. Please let your children know about the contest and soon they’ll be spotting box tops all around the house!
