PTO Newsletter – April 28th, 2019

April 28, 2019

WELCOME BACK! Hope everyone had an enjoyable Spring Break. We are sure everyone is getting ready for first day back to school tomorrow. The Sea Girt PTO is entering the home stretch for the 2018-2019 school year and there are still lots of activities and fun things to still enjoy.

It continues to be the mission of the Sea Girt PTO to work for the benefit of the students and the Sea Girt Elementary School. We strive to engage volunteers and parents, continue the Patriot Pride Spirit and enrich the students experiences while giving back to the school. Thank you for your continued support! We are just publishing this information again one more time in case anyone missed it in the last blast. It is important all the supporters and contributors know where the money raised goes. See below for some additional information as to “Where the Money Goes…”

The Benefactors of PTO Fundraising

The Sea Girt PTO believes it was important to get more information out there as to where the monies goes each year. Although some fundraisers are associated with a specific cause or event not all are aware of all the additional events and projects that the Sea Girt PTO supports. Hopefully you have all seen or heard about all the great outdoor games and old school hula hoops and jump ropes that the PTO purchased thanks to everyone’s support at the Fall Fundraiser. The kids (and some adults) are truly enjoying these outdoor activities. Check out the Instagram for additional photos. Below is an abbreviated listing of all that the Sea Girt PTO Supports.

Spring Social

Planning is underway for the Annual PTO Spring Social. The date will be early June and the place will be local. This is always a fabulous event and we anticipate a great local venue! More information to come. Stay tuned!

Upcoming: Dance-A-Thon-Rock for the Gym Refresh!

The Dance-A-Thon is BACK!  The date is May 17th, the DJ is booked!

The Dance A Thon fundraiser this year will be “Rock for the Gym Refresh”. There is a lot on the horizon for the gym makeover and the Sea Girt PTO is proud to support this effort. The proceeds from this event will go toward needed improvements for the Sea Girt Elementary School Gym. Keep an eye out for more information through the class parents! The sponsorship forms and flyers will be out this week. Thanks to the help of our volunteers we are committed to making this event happen again. The kids absolutely love it and the feedback from the kids when we tell them we will be having a Dance-A-Thon is pure excitement.

We are excited for ALL classes to participate and enjoy. This is an event for both kids and parents and others. It is so much fun to attend and watch after the long stretch of testing the kids will be more than ready for the Dance A Thon. There will be individual prizes for the fundraising efforts. A letter to the class parents, teachers and students will be out this week. Preparing a dance routine with your friends, class or team mates is encouraged but not mandatory. Students can get together on their own or during recess if that want to display their talents during the event. Stay tuned and watch the emails and website for more updates.   Additional information is being sent out to class parents and teachers.

Upcoming Events

Due to the feed back and turnout we are going to alternate the PTO meetings moving forward to try to reach a broader audience.  The next meeting will be May 21st , Tuesday and will be in the morning at 8:30 am at Shore Pour on Washington Avenue. We are hoping for another good turnout and the support of class representatives. We will be discussing all the great upcoming events and also the filling the volunteer needs. We encourage the class parents to attend to receive the most updated information.

This school year, the PTO has added some new digital channels to our communication repertoire. Here are the many ways you can keep up with PTO activities:

  • The weekly newsletters (you’re reading it!)
  • Additions to the Tuesday and Friday school emails
  • Our new website (newsletters, events, store, contact form, and more)
  • Our PTO email: ptoboard@seagirtpto.com
  • Instagram
  • PTO Meetings – You’re invited! Please join us monthly to discuss current issues, fundraising, events, volunteering, programs, goals, and anything else important to supporting our school.
  • In Person – You can always approach anyone on the PTO board at school, on the playground, around town, or any way you choose.

Please let us know what’s working for you (and what isn’t). If there is anything would like to see us do differently, please let us know. We’re listening on all channels!

The PTO thanks all the families for their continued support in moving forward all the activities and fundraisers throughout the year. Without the support of the administration and families we could not meet our mission.

Please help to make 2019 our strongest PTO year at SGES!

The Sea Girt PTO Board
