PTO Newsletter – April 19th, 2020
The Sea Girt PTO hopes this email finds everyone well. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful Sunday Sun before it cooled down. We will continue to move forward during these times and put out only important updates and emails. There are discussions happening regarding planned events and once the events have been rescheduled or canceled we will blast that information out here and through the school media.
Mother-Son Event
Unfortunately due to the uncertainty of the remainder of the school year, the PTO has had to make a decision in concert with the Sea Girt Elementary School to cancel this event at this time. We have to advise the venue and the DJ with enough notice so it does not result in a cost. There has been a lot of work that goes into this event already and we want to Thank the Committee for all their efforts. If there is an opportunity to do something in the near future the PTO will certainly work with the committee toward that effort.
Sea Girt PTO Meeting
There will be a virtual Sea Girt Elementary School PTO Meeting on May 19th at 7pm. This will be a ZOOM meeting hosted by the Sea Girt Elementary School. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. There will be a small agenda of items that the PTO has to discuss and also the slate of new PTO Executive Board Members will be presented by the Committee. We will be sending out a ZOOM link shortly. Hope to see all your smiling faces there.
Sea Girt Library-Book Project
The PTO has been in discussion with the Sea Girt Library. Even though the library is not open at this time, they have launched an initiative to capture this moment in time of quarantine with a Book Project. The Sea Girt Library is hoping students and their families will contribute short “essays” on how their lives have changed during this time (in school, celebrating holidays, with family, or anything else). In terms of length, the maximum is 600 words and there is no minimum.
We are asking people to email their info to us at: seagirtlilbrary@gmail.com.
Any questions you can also contact Lisa Luke, Library Director.
School Supplies-2020/2021
New this year there is the ability to order Sea Girt Elementary School supplies online for the next school year. This is totally voluntary, not mandatory. The teachers and administration in conjunction with the Sea Girt PTO have put together the supplies needed by grade level. If you decide to order online the packages will be there awaiting the student on the first day of school. In addition as an added bonus, the Sea Girt PTO gets a small amount of money donated back from the supplier. Every little bit helps! Please click the following link to browse and see if this is an option for you and your family. http://1stdayschoolsupplies.com/kits.php?sid=67884
SUPPORT LOCAL
As the quarantine continues, the Sea Girt PTO continues to encouraging our families to remember our local businesses and vendors at this time. If you have a need for food please do not hesitate to contact or order from our lunch vendors that are always there for us at lunch and beyond. Please patronize them as you can through their delivery, curbside pickup, Grubhub or other ways. They are Rays, Bubbakoos in Manasquan, Main Street Kitchen, Naples Kitchen, Spring Lake Heights, Bagel Basket & Jersey Mike’s in Point Borough. In addition, keep in mind the small local businesses here in Sea Girt that need your help and support. You can order online or ahead for curbside pick up.
Sea Girt Strong
We also ask that you keep sharing the great photos of home learning and activities with #seagirtstrong. It is great to see all the ingenious ways families and kids and learning and making it fun.
As this continued quarantine is in place the Sea Girt PTO will still be here to support the students and staff and will continue to push out only pertinent information as needed so as not to bombard you during this time. We have cut back on the emails and media as most families are focusing on other issues now and juggling jobs and homeschooling. The PTO wants to stay connected to our Sea Girt Elementary School families and hopes everyone is social distancing while enjoying the downtime with family and the outdoors. We are ALL navigating these uncharted waters together and will continue to share ideas, updates and things to do during this difficult time.
Also to our audience at large if you have something that we the Sea Girt community can do as a whole to help out those who are working and who are on the front lines of this please feel free to share with the Sea Girt PTO and we will blast it out to all.
STAY STRONG
STAY SAFE
SOCIAL DISTANCE
STAY FAMILY FOCUSED
With Patriot Pride,
The Sea Girt PTO Board
